He was born on Dec. 26, 1935, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Lawrence and Mildred Millsap Sager. He graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis, Tenn. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1961. Lewis retired as a Fort Worth Police lieutenant in 1990, after 26 years of service. In 1993, he returned to work for the Fort Worth P.D. as a civilian, retiring again in 2014. He earned the fellowship degree from the Haltom City Moose Lodge #1889, where he was a member for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Sager; brothers-in-law, Bill Hawkins and Arthur "Bubba" Hawkins.
Survivors: His wife of 59 years, Sheila Sager; son, Mark Sager and wife, Cathy; daughters, Kathy Sager, and Brenda Hanson and husband, Jory; grandchildren, Carly, Max, Amanda, Josh, Michael, Erin and Brian; great-granddaughter, Collins; sisters, Linda Stewart, and Sandra Thomas and husband, Jimmie; brothers-in-law, David Hawkins and wife, Vallie, Roger Hawkins and wife, Wanda, Gary Hawkins and wife, Debbie; sisters-in-law, Claudia Sager, Ellen Hawkins, Judy Williams, and Alice Bedford and husband, Gary; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
