April 1, 1938 – February 24, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria Del Rosario (Mary) Gonzalez Gomez, on February 24, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on April 1, 1938, in San Diego, Texas. At a young age, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Isabel B. Gomez. They met at a wrestling match at the Dallas Sportatorium in Dallas TX in 1955. Of all places and that is how their story began. They married on August 26, 1956. They have loved each other through all that life has thrown at them for over 68 years of marriage. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey together that spanned for years of unwavering love and devotion. Isabel (Manuel) was her true “Darling”.
Mary’s greatest joy in life was her family. She found happiness in the simple moments—always present or watching on youtube, cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their extracurricular activities. Whether it was a game, recital, or performance, Manny—as she was lovingly called—was their biggest fan, always offering words of encouragement and pride.
Her calming and loving heart taught us to appreciate the little things in life. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, with gentle wisdom and selfless care. Her home was always open, filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family.
Mary was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who kept her busy and filled her heart with endless joy. Her legacy of kindness, patience, and unconditional love will live on in each of them.
She is survived by her devoted husband Isabel Gomez; her children Manuel Gomez and partner Angie Priest, Cecil Gomez and daughter-in-law Debbi Gomez, Mona Coronado and son-in-law Ruben Coronado, Rosemary McDaniel and son-in-law Donnie McDaniel, and Rosanna Gomez. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Rachel Jones, Ryan Coker, Rebekah McDaniel, Tony Gomez, Alyssa Puyear, Sarah Coronado, Nicole Gomez, Tahl Gomez, and all 13 great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness.
Mary is also survived by her brother Paul H. Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her parents Hipolito Gonzalez and Maria del Rosario Gonzalez, her stepmother Josefina Gonzalez, her sisters Lupe Gomez, Fidela Gonzalez, Virginia Gonzalez, and her brothers Simon Gonzalez and Oscar Gonzalez.
Her life was a testament to faith, love, and the beauty of family. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in heaven, watching over us with that same gentle spirit.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on March 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
