Michael graduated high school at The Saint Paul’s School in Covington, Louisiana, class of 1978. He then went on to earn a BioChemistry degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before earning his medical degree at LSU Medical School in New Orleans. He completed his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he met his wife, Dr. Kathryn Bond Ferry.
He began his career at Heart Place in Arlington where he cared for his patients for 24 years. He also participated in group leadership at Heart Place as a member of the Board of Directors.
Michael and his family attended First Baptist Church of Colleyville, Texas. He enjoyed spending time outdoors - fly fishing, running marathons, skiing and traveling in his RV. He also loyally supported the LSU Fighting Tigers Football Team and reveled in LSU championship victories in 2003, 2007 and 2019.
He also supported The Saints and was thrilled for their Super Bowl victory in 2010. His lifelong passion was riding motorcycles - dirt biking in Colorado, riding his Ducati on the race track, and enjoying cross country trips with his good friends.
Michael was remembered for his dry humor and effortless wit, as well as his caring nature towards his family, friends and patients. Though busy with work, he always put his family first, and enjoyed planning vacations with them in places like Colorado, Hawaii and Cancun. One of the families favorite vacations was taking the Disney Cruise in the Mediterranean.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kathryn, and his two children, Drew, Maddie and Maddie’s fiancé, Andrew Ireland. He is also survived by his father, Dr. John Ferry and his wife Elaine, as well as his four siblings, Dr. Judith Ferry, Thomas Ferry, John Ferry and Dr. Patrick Ferry. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ferry.
Michael’s memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Colleyville on February 24th at 2:00 pm in the Main Sanctuary, 5300 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034, (817)-281-4158.
