Nancy Stewart, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 5:30 a.m. in the excellent care of Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas. Nancy was strong woman who battled 14 months with pancreatic cancer. She was a light everywhere she went.
She was born on April 12, 1947, in Houston, Texas. She was proud to be a native Houstonian.
Nancy attended Milby High School and played the flute in the band. She was a Candy Striper at Memorial Hospital in Houston. She graduated from Milby High School in 1965.
She attended the University of Houston and was a Key Punch Operator when she met and married the love of her life, Myron Lee Stewart on June 29, 1968 at St. Paul’s Episcopal church in Houston. Myron and Nancy celebrated 55 years of marriage this year. She spent years working retail and serving her community. She worked at Casual Corner, Palais Royal, Ashley Avery and Betsy’s Health Food in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed the time spent working at Main Place Boutique in Amarillo, Texas. Nancy enjoyed her job at Champions Church of Christ loving on preschoolers at Little Champs Preschool.
Nancy and Myron spent most of their time involved in their church homes ministering to many. They also spent much of their time raising three daughters and 8 grandchildren, attending any and all sporting (EXTRACURRICULAR) events. Nancy coordinated a trip to Alaska with the whole family – it was a dream come true for her. She loved vacationing with Myron and their train trip across Canada was her very favorite.
One of Nancy’s favorite jobs was volunteering at Fort Worth Christian Elementary serving the teachers with her time. She was an active prayer warrior for Our Father’s Children, a non-profit in North Richland Hills, Texas. OFC supports foster children in the community by taking them to summer church camps and weekend retreats teaching them about the love of Jesus.
Nancy was a servant and a hard-worker, she was strong and resourceful, and she loved others deeply. She was an attentive daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, Grammy, and friend. Nancy wanted everyone she met to know that God was in control, that He has a plan for us all, and to be looking for God’s hand in the everyday details. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting frogs. Why? She loved the acronym F.R.O.G.S. “fully relying on God’s Son”!!!! This was a mantra she lived her days by.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolphus Chuck LaVallee and Marjorie Catherine Mueller LaVallee; her sister Janet LaVallee Hayes.
She is survived by her husband Myron Lee Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas, her three daughters Kathryn Boerio and husband Marshall of Abilene, Barbara Gradke and husband Ryan of Grapevine, Sharon Owen and husband Trine of Fort Worth, and eight grandchildren, Griffin Michael Gradke, Grayson Matthew Gradke, Tatum Anne Gradke, Ainsley Elizabeth Owen, Kennedy Pearl Boerio, Ava Caroline Owen, Rebecca Irene Boerio, and Sie Owen.
