Mrs. Peggy "Joyce" Owens

Peggy “Joyce” Owens passed away Friday, November 12, 2021. Joyce was born August 27, 1936, in Pottsboro, Texas to Marvin Leon and Flossie Burleson. Joyce graduated from Collinsville High School in 1954. She married the love of her life, Billy F. Owens on May 11, 1957, in Collinsville, and moved to Euless in 1958. Joyce had one son, Eric Owens whom she loved dearly. Joyce and Billy lived in Euless for more than 56 years. After Billy’s passing in 2015, Joyce moved to Heritage Village in Hurst. She enjoyed her life there with new friends until 2020 when she moved back to Euless. Joyce worked as a teacher’s assistant in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD for over 30 years starting at Hurst Jr. High and then moving to Harwood Jr. High when it opened in 1972. She was a Christian and active member of First Baptist Church of Euless (currently Cross City Church) for over 60 years. Her passion was her family, and she poured her heart into them as a loving Wife, Mom, and Gramma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Leon (Shorty) and Flossie Burleson, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Billy. She is survived by her son, Eric and his wife, Danee; granddaughter, Katie Squires and her husband, Michael Squires; grandson Grayson Owens and his wife Lexi Owens; great-granddaughters, Rosalie and Delaney Owens; Sister Marvis Jean King and her husband Bob King; nephews Bobby King and Dr. Joe Owens; nieces Shelly Jasper, Melanie Jill Gonzales, Jennifer Nichols, Jane Veigl and Cheryl Jones. The family will receive friends for visitation at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Cross City Church First Euless. Interment will conclude at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
