

Raul was born on October 29, 1931 in Fabens, Texas. He was the son of Jesus Galvan and Manuela Gonzales Terrazas. Raul was raised with four siblings.
He was an exceptional, 2-way football player at Fabens High School and earned the rank of Eagle Scout prior to enlisting in the Army during The Korean War.
In 1975 Mr. Galvan married Jeannette Brown Scheuerman of Fort Worth. For over 41 years they resided and were active in many school, sports, community, and church organizations.
Raul was blessed with four children, two sons, Alexander and Michael and two daughters, Felicia and Nelda and two step-children Belynda and Gregory. Another blessing for Raul was the gift of 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Raul opened a photography studio in San Antonio. Later, he relocated to Fort Worth where he founded, owned, and operated Monarch Photographic Corporation, a highly successful portrait and photography business that operated studios under Marcel's, Hallmark and The Gallery at Monterra, for over 60 years. Rudy was known as "Mr. Marcel" and photographed countless thousands of students for senior portraits and school pictures for many Texas high schools. He was a stickler for perfection and that characteristic remained with him for his entire career.
He served his country as a Combat Photographer on the front lines with the 25th Infantry Division.
Raul passed away on October 19, 2016 in Athens, Texas after a long fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his children, Felicia Adams, Alexander Galvan, Nelda Ranelle, and 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Jan's children, Belynda Scheuerman Figueriedo of Malakoff, Texas and Gregory Scheuerman of Haltom City were lucky to have Rudy as a loving Step Dad and Grandfather to their 4 children. He also had two loving nieces Sylvia Reyes of Ashville, NC, and Barbara Reyes Hernandez of El Paso, Texas. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas.
Simply stated, Raul was an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Raul leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Raul "Rudy" Galvan.

Visitation for Raul "Rudy" Gonzales Galvan, 84, formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and a Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October, 26th, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Mr. Galvan passed away after a long fought battle with Alzheimer's disease, on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. "Rudy" was born in Fabens, Texas, on October, 29, 1931, the 4th born of 5 children of Jesus Galvan and Manuela Gonzales Terrazas. All of whom preceded him in death.
