Bob had entered the U.S. Naval Reserve shortly after leaving active duty, and retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer in 1992. Betty passed away unexpectedly in 1993. Bob then met Yoko DeMars, who had also been recently widowed, and they wed on May 8, 1995, enjoying a happy and active life together for over 24 years until his death.
