

Thomas G. "Rocky" Rockenbaugh, 90, of Fort Worth went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or to Birchman Baptist Church's Harp Fund, 9100 N Normandale St., Fort Worth, Texas, 76116. Thomas was born in Wills Point in 1926. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Thomas graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in range and forestry. He began his career in 1951 with the Soil Conservation Service. He served in various roles throughout Texas before becoming SCS assistant state conservationist for Louisiana and deputy state conservationist for Kansas. In 1975 he was appointed to state conservationist for Arizona. He moved to Washington as SCS assistant chief for the Southwestern states in 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Glennie Rockenbaugh; his wife, Mary Lois; and his brother, Robert Hayden Rockenbaugh. Survivors: His loving wife of 43 years, Del Rockenbaugh; children, Vickie Rockenbaugh, Rob Rockenbaugh and wife, Darlene; stepchildren, C.J. Witten and husband, Alan, Nancy Cooper and husband, David; grandchildren, Chris, Shannon, D'Andra, Lance, Michele, Lexi; and 18 great-grandchildren.
