

He was born February 18, 1924 in Dallas, Texas to William Clinton McDowell and Ethel Mae McDowell.
Weldon was a High School graduate of Irving High School.
He married Claudia Lucille Shuptrine on September 11, 1942.
He was drafted into the military on February 18, 1943, where he served as an Army Aviation Engineer.
Before receiving an honorable discharge in January, of 1946, he was stationed in Burma, China, and Delhi India.
For thirty-five years, Weldon was an employee at Trinity Portland Cement Company, where he was a Chief Chemist and Supervisor. After retiring, Weldon and Lucille moved to Emory, Texas where he served as mayor for a short time.
Weldon was a lover of music; he enjoyed playing guitar, harmonica, organ, and other musical instruments. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also had a passion for motorcycles and antique cars.
Weldon is survived by his children, Weldon Dee McDowell Jr., Danny Lewis McDowell and Wife Teresa , son in law, Larry Tompkins; Grandchildren, Scotty Tompkins and wife Deena, Taylor Tompkins and wife Javina, Tawn McDowell and wife Kelly, Dakota McDowell and Sharyse, Nicholas McDowell and wife Sharia, Leah McCarthy and husband Kevin; thirteen great grandchildren; close friend, Marika Davis; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years, Lucille McDowell; daughter, Donna Lucille Tompkins; his parents; his sisters, Willie, Audra, and Lucille; and his brothers, Cody and Scout.
