William H. Stafford (Bill), age 81, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday January 13th. Bill was born in 1940 in the small town of Columbus, Indiana to William H. Stafford Sr. and Dorothy May Stafford. The Stafford family shortly thereafter moved to Dallas, Texas at the advice of a physician to aid Bill’s whooping cough. Bill enjoyed a great childhood with his family in Dallas where he attended Woodrow Wilson High School and North Lake College.
Bill enlisted and served 24 years in the military both in the Marine Corps and Air Force where he finally retired in 1981. In the early years of his military service, Bill met Teiko in Rapid City, South Dakota where he was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Bill and Teiko fell in love and they both married in 1964. Bill and Teiko had 3 children during Bill’s military service which are their daughter Barbara and two son’s Bill and Kenneth.
Bill after retiring in 1981 started a second career with Allstate Insurance as an insurance agent. Many of his clients knew that they were in “good hands” with Bill Stafford as their agent. Bill finally retired from Allstate in 2002. Bill was extremely talented and his hard work and ability to connect with people allowed the successes he had over both of his careers. Bill had a passion for being on the road and seeing America in the saddle of his numerous motorcycles, as long as he had the love his life Teiko by his side. Together they rode countless miles enjoying all of God’s creation.
Bill also devoted his time to help bring souls to Christ through the Friends Speak program ensuring that those that needed help in understanding the Word of God had no barriers. To this day, Bill kept many of those relationships close that he built over the years through this program. Bill was always devoted to God and family. His sense of humor was sure to put people at ease and guarantee a smile. If he ever referred to you as “Kid”, well then you were in a special group of people that he loved dearly.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy and sister Delores.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Teiko, brother Robert, daughter Barbara, sons Bill and wife Donette, Kenneth and wife Amy, and two grandsons Wyatt and Will.
