

William Adolph Swigart (Bill) died peacefully Wednesday, October 4, 2017 with family around him. Bill was born January 10, 1937 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Mac (M.R.) and Edna Swigart during a snow storm weighing only 3 pounds. Bill grew up on the family farm with brother; Russell Swigart, sisters; Jean Jenson and Judi Beardsley. He graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1955. Bill started his life as a butcher in Redwood Falls. Later he sold meat with Gus Glaser Meat Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1971 he went to work for Iowa Beef Processors in South Sioux City, NE and in 1980 Dallas Central Sales in Las Colinas. In the 1990’s he went to work for Paragon Foods and continued to sell meat for RCH of Wichita, KS from home until his death.
Faith and family were everything to Bill. He became engaged to his High school sweetheart, Carol Jean Palmer in the spring of 1957. They married January 26, 1958 during a snow storm. He called her his “Bride” their entire 59 years together. Their love blessed them with four children; William, Brenda, Beth and Becky. He was an outstanding role model for his children and grandchildren, showing them how to love others and live life. Bill loved his faith, family, friends and good food. He enjoyed saying the blessings at all the gatherings.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Redwood Falls, MN and the Lodge in Hurst. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Colleyville.
Bill died peacefully, going home to be with his Lord following three years of treatment for lung and brain cancer in his home surrounded by family.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Edna Swigart, granddaughter Teya Graves and his beloved dog Toots.
Born in a snow storm and married in a snow storm. Bill often said he moved to Texas so he wouldn't’t die in a snow storm.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his “Bride” Carol Jean Swigart, children; William P. Swigart, Brenda and husband Pat Graves, Beth and husband Tony Barrett, Becky and husband Kelly Steele. Grandchildren; Alex and husband Richard Lee, Erica Swigart, Quincy and wife Stephanie Graves, Jeremiah and wife Katie Graves, Donald and wife Brenda Graves, Jocelynn Graves, Derek Swigart, Aja and husband Rob Myers, Alyssa Russell, Paxton Steele, Pierson Steele and 16 great grandchildren.
