Born on March 30, 1939, in Booneville, Mississippi, Donald was the son of the late Dewey and Maggie Brumley Wilemon.
In 1958, Donald moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked alongside his brothers in the gas station and auto repair business for more than 30 years. He later continued his career with Firestone and AutoZone until his retirement. In June 1959, he married the love of his life, Sammie Ruth Benjamin, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
Known to family and friends as a “master mechanic” and “storyteller,” Donald’s expertise and warmth left an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his lawn, and watching football and basketball, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil, Dewey Flavis, Clyde, Kenneth, Elton, Paul, and his twin, Ronald as well as his sisters, Aileen and Maxine.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Sammie Ruth Wilemon; his children, Donnie Wilemon (Marla) and Kristi Conlee (Scott); his three grandchildren, Ashley Riles (John), DJ Wilemon (Kaylee), and Sam Wilemon (Lea); and his five great-grandchildren, Lane, Cooper, Conley, Parker, and Faye and his sister, Jean Barnes (Billy).
A celebration of life service will be held on April 4, 2025, at Collierville First Baptist Church 830 New Byhalia Rd Collierville, TN 38017. Visitation 10am – 11am. Service following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Baptist Reynolds Hospice House or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Donald’s memory.
