Born on November 10, 1964, Jimmie was the son of the late Tommy Black Sr. and Valerie Black. He spent his life devoted to his family, his work, and his calling to lift others up. For 33 years, he shared an extraordinary marriage with his wife, Tammie Black—a true love story marked by mutual respect, unwavering support, and love. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, laughter, and love.
Jimmie was the proud father of two sons, Brayden Wayne Black (Kayla) and Griffin Mitchell Black (Tayler), and recently stepped into one of his greatest joys—being “Poppi” to his grandson, Tucker Wayne Black. Family was his heartbeat. Whether playing golf with his boys, hanging out over dinner, or relaxing at the lake, Jimmie was most happy hanging out with his people.
Professionally, Jimmie served as Executive Director for Associated Wholesale Grocers, where he built a career on integrity, leadership, and heart. He was known not only for his commitment to excellence, but for the way he treated people—always with dignity, encouragement, and sincere care. He believed in the potential of others and made it his mission to help them grow into their best selves.
Beyond work and family, Jimmie had a deep passion for coaching and mentoring young boys, guiding them to become strong, kind, and honorable men. His legacy lives on in the many lives he shaped, both personally and professionally.
Jimmie will be remembered for his unconditional love, his servant’s heart, and the way he made every person feel like they were his most important priority. To be loved by him was to feel truly seen, valued, and known.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
He is survived by his wife, Tammie Black; his sons Brayden (Kayla) and Griffin (Tayler); and his grandson, Tucker Wayne Black. Jimmie was our gift from God and we were honored to share him with you.
