Josephine Ellen Allsop died on May 28, 2018. She was born on March 4, 1933 in Stewardson, IL. Friends and family knew her as Jo or Jo Ellen. On September 19, 1951 she married Lloyd Lane Allsop. They were married for 66 years. Mrs. Allsop graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. She taught in the Regular classroom, Resource and Special Education in the Memphis City School System. She retired after 30 years as the Pricipal of Avon Lenox School.
Mrs. Allsop loved to cook and read. She loved music and sang in her church choir. Mrs. and Mr. Allsop loved to travel and spend time with their family.
Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Lane Allsop, her parents Hayden D. and Juanita Brady and her daughter Pamela Allsop Vollmer. She is survived by her daughter Susan Allsop Atkinson, son in law David Atkinson, her sister Kaye Wilson, 3 grandsons Christopher Atkinson, Stephen Atkinson and John Atkinson and one granddaughter Bethany Danielle Vollmer.
The service will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Piperton United Methodist Church in Piperton, TN. Visitation will be at 1:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm. The Rev. Tim Carpenter will be officiating.
