Dear Andrea:

Although I never met either of you personally, I feel I know you.  You surely were aware that Joseph and I exchanged many, many emails through the past few years.  He had taken my email address from something he had received and thought I was someone he knew. I always looked forward to receiving the wonderful things he emailed. Finally, I sent him a note asking who he was and how he got my address, and he told me.  I told him I hoped he would keep sending all the things about airplanes, cars, nature, and all the rest.  I especially enjoyed his pictures from Ireland, which is also part of my heritage.  Then the emails stopped, and my messages were returned.  In searching the internet, I discovered the sad acknowledgment of my fears. I treasure the many pictures I saved, especially the one of you two dear children of God.  May God bless and comfort you and your family.

I had the pleasure to have worked with Joe at JFK for TWA from 1965-1969 when I first emigrated from Ireland. He gave me Reassurance, Courage and most of all Hope which I will never forget. I will miss his e-mails and the beautiful pictures he used to send me on a regular basis.

Fifty three years ago on October 16th Eddie and I boarded a plane at Shannon and landed in New York. What a ride it's been since then! Rest in Peace old friend, you will live on in our hearts.

Coach Doherty was a good man.  Though it had been more than 30 years since I had seen him, he left an indelible mark on my heart... though his presence will be missed, his spirit is in us all.
