LaNora Irene Wade Carpenter

Surrounded by her devoted family, LaNora Irene Wade Carpenter passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 9, 2016. Born on August 27, 1918, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Eldred Wilson Carpenter, her parents Bertha Branch Farley Wade and James William Wade (Jim), two brothers Thomas Hugh Wade (Bill), and James Malcolm Wade, her son Don Terrell Carpenter, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Carpenter, and her grandson Thomas Irving Carpenter. She is survived by three daughters: Nina Carpenter Martin of Collierville, TN, Janet Carpenter Daffin (AL) of McKinney, TX, and Pam Carpenter Boals of Columbus, OH, by her grandchildren, who gave her great joy, Wade Carpenter (Ginny), Wes Martin (Lara), Alison Daffin Montgomery (Mark), Valerie Daffin Maher (Chris), Elizabeth Boals Banks (Jeff), Emily Boals Logue (John), and Paul Boals; and by her eleven great grandchildren. LaNora was an active member of the Collierville United Methodist Church, the Collierville Contemporary Club, and the Collierville VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved the outdoors as evidenced by her box vegetable garden and flowers. Fishing and target shooting with the young men in the family brought her much enjoyment as did her card games and Bunko with her many friends. LaNora was an accomplished seamstress and retired as owner of the Snooty Snipper Beauty Salon where she spent many happy days with her stylists and customers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11th, from 12:30pm until service time at 2:00pm, at the Collierville United Methodist Church, Sanctuary on the Square, at 104 North Rowlett Street, with burial following at the New Bethel Cemetery in the New Bethel community north of Rossville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Sanctuary on the Square Fund, Collierville United Methodist Church at 454 W. Poplar Avenue in Collierville, TN 38017 or to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 42048 in Memphis, TN 38174, or to the charity of the giver’s choice.
