Bruce was born on September 24, 1941 in Syracuse, New York, where he spent his childhood. He came to Collierville in 1990 via St. Petersburg and then Jacksonville, Florida. He served in the U.S. Airforce from 1963 to 1971, working as a Radio Intercept Analysis Specialist while stationed in Japan and London. In civilian life he worked as a systems analyst on mainframe computers.
He attended Collierville United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. He loved playing bridge, chess, and Texas hold ‘em.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Patty of 42 years, twin children Jimmy and Karen, stepsons William (Nadine) and Michael Sullivan, and grandchildren Adela (12) and Oz (7).
