Wilma was born August 28, 1931 in Potts Camp, Ms. to Vaughn and Inez Johnson. She has one sister and two brothers.
Wilma graduated from Potts Camp High School and then received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Tennessee Technical University. She was an elementary school teacher for the Memphis City Schools. She married a "handsome traveling salesman", Dick Dowdle in 1950. She had two step-grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Collierville. Her hobbies were working puzzles, being with dogs and cats, gardening, doing arts and crafts, reading, being with children and being a great friend.
A gathering of family and friends for Wilma will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 West Poplar, Collierville, TN 38017. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1715 Bethlehem Road, Waterford, MS 38685.
