

Loving husband of 63 years, Bruce is survived by his wife Ellen Marie (Donahue) Compton, 92, and his children, Cathleen Marie Compton (Giampiero Gallo) of Florence, Italy and Benjamin Alun Compton (Diana Sanson) of Sonoma, California, his grandchildren; Alexander and Sofia Gallo, and Emi and Eugene Compton; and by his sister, Gail Schmidt, and brother, Dane Compton. Bruce was preceded in death by his younger brothers, Neal and Erle, and by his parents, Helen May and Jay Eugene Compton.
Born in Allentown, PA, his family lived in Endicott, NY and then moved to Flint, MI where he enlisted as a US Marine in 1946. He later attended the University of Michigan as an English major on the GI Bill and went on to work for RCA, General Electric, and the Social Security Administration. He was a resident of South Jersey for close to 70 years
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to join the family at the Pour House (124 Haddon Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ 08108) at 4:30 PM.
