Predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ellen Abbate (Fahrner) and 7 older siblings. Devoted father survived by his 12 children; Debbie Maginnis (Steve), Louise Mitchell, Frank Abbate (Noreen), Alexander “Mickey” Abbate (Kathy), Maryellen “Cookie” VanAtter (Mark), Joey Abbate (Debbie), Richard Abbate (Maritza), Pat Abbate, Kathy Picciano, Tom Abbate (Ann), Lisa Giovanni (David), and Carolyne Abbate. Loving grandfather to 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Sunday November 19, 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Holy Saviour, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 50 Emerald Ave. Westmont, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday November 20, 10:30 am at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
