Neil was born in NYC, and grew up in Fort Lee, NJ. He graduated from Fort Lee High School before serving in the US Army. A self-taught engineer, he rose to a senior leadership position at Stone and Webster Engineering in Cherry Hill, NJ, and later relocated to Denver, CO. He was an avid sailor and he also enjoyed skiing well into his 80s.
Neil and his late wife, Naomi Lynne, retired to Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, where they became the nexus for neighborhood social activity. Their home on Bradley Road was built by Neil’s father, Wesley Sr., and Neil re-engineered nearly every system in the house with his meticulous attention to detail.
He will be remembered by family and friends for his willingness to lend a helping hand, for his enjoyment of many social activities, and for being such a wonderful and kind gentleman.

He will be dearly missed by his sons, Michael Mitchell (Beverly) and Robert Mitchell, stepsons, Dan Zeccola (Heather) and Joe Zeccola (Ginette), stepdaughter, Mary Kay Holamon (Bruce), and seven loving grandchildren: Rachel and Timothy Holamon, Katelynne and Alyson Zeccola, Cassidy and Wesley Mitchell and Christine Bowman.
