Long-time Colorado Springs resident Adeline “Addie” Coughlin, 94, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2013. A beautiful wife and mother, she was also a homemaker, community volunteer, decorator, world traveler, glamour girl, crazy driver, fashionista, comedienne, and the life of every party she attended. An avid reader, she also loved to solve word puzzles, and her favorite TV viewing included both Jeopardy! and professional bull-riding. In short, Addie was one of a kind: a delightful cross between Lucy Ricardo and Auntie Mame.
Addie loved life. She graced the captain’s table of many a luxury cruise liner, and was also famous for hosting tea parties for grandchildren underneath her grand piano. Always up for a good card game or for basketball on the back-yard court, she was a connoisseur of fine chocolates and loved to sing. Moreover, she somehow managed the chaos of her rambunctious family with humor, grace, and love.
Preceded in death by her devilishly handsome husband Jerome Coughlin, Addie is survived by five daughters: Carol Saul (Fred), Diane Farrell (Ron), Deborah Keller (John), Nancy Coughlin (Henry Gonshak), Lori St. Germain (James Phelps), and four sons: Brian (Jill), Timothy, James, Christopher (Marla Tanaka), and by seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Joan Harris, Betty Meyers and Vernon Barnes.
Addie was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., April 20, Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 2650 Parish View. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Addie’s name to the Sisters of Saint Francis.
