Albert "Mervin" Knight, age 91, passed away at Pikes Peak Hospice on October 14, 2010. Mervin was born in Elbert, Colorado to James and Jesse Knight on September 9, 1919. Mervin was a lifelong Colorado Resident. Mervin was retired from the Construction and Welding Industry, specializing in Ornamental Iron & last worked for National/Enterprise Car Rental until December of 2009. Mervin was a US Army Veteran and had served during WWII in both France and Germany from 1944 to 1945. He then stayed enlisted in the Army Reserves until 1947. Mervin married the love of his life, Florence “Killin” Knight on June 4, 1939. Mervin was an avid league and tournament bowler. He was a past president of the Pikes Peak Little Britches Rodeo Assoc. He was also a member of the Al Kaly Mule Train, Pikes Peak Range Riders (including past president, 1974) for 45 years and Pikes Peak Range Rider Pivots.
Mervin is preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence Ada “Killin” Knight (2010), Joan Dalton, (daughter, 1982), Jim Cohrs (son-in-law, 2004), Todd Dalton (grandson, 2004).
Mervin is survived by Jean Sitkowski (Phil), Janice Cohrs, Jody Knight-Lazor (Jody) and Mark Knight (Karen) as well as ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow.
