Alex is missed. I knew him from when we were in elementary school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and into our thirties. 

Alex was a thoughtful, caring, daring, fun, adventurous, serious, loving person. He was a loyal friend.

When we were 14, Alex took me to the 8th Street Playhouse in NYC to see  a midnight showing of The Song Remains the Same for the first of what would be many dozens of times watching the film. He always (with some chiding of my obsession) put on Zeppelin records at his house after school at Bronx Science (he was a much better student than I was in those days). 

He was as cool as they came in High School. I was new to Zeppelin and denim jackets and hanging out at the Monument on 89th and Central Park, but Alex seemed born to it. Unfazed, but not uncaring. Cool, but real and thoughtful. He drew respect.

It takes courage and vision to leave a life lived entirely in Manhattan for Colorado and become a forest ranger! A few of us mused back then about leaving the City for a life in nature, a life more in and of the wild, but Alex DID IT. 

We saw each other last when our kids were little and he was the same great guy, unassuming but extraordinary. Big Cheshire Cat grin.

Alex was the dad of my best friend, Zane. Growing up, I always had a great time at his house and I have many fond memories of us hanging out and talking sports. Zane and I were always cracking jokes with him when he was around and he always welcomed me in with open arms. 
Seeing him connect so closely in special ways with both Zane and Wyatt in their avenues of life is something I really looked up to and will try to implement with my kids when I am a father. I’m gonna miss him. 

I’m devastated to hear this news. I grew up in the same apartment building as Alex and his family pretty much throughout my entire childhood in NYC. Although closer in age to his brother, Chris, I always loved Alex and his big smile and huge energy. We had so much fun and I spent much time with his amazing mom, Christine, who always tolerated our roughhousing, etc. we spent many, many days playing softball and football in Riverside Park in a grittier time in NYC’s history. I’ll always cherish the memories we had and his beautiful spirit. Your legacy with live on through your beautiful family and friends and the community you made your own. Rest in Peace Alex. You were always willing to step up and help our Timber Measurements Program with Cruiser training and setting up test plots. You were an excellent Forester using your talents to help the forests stay alive. You will be missed and were a great person also.  I enjoyed your presence at our training sessions.

Alex rudney is a "Good friend/brother/father etc."  True brother he is gonna be missed by many. We sure use ta have a good time , laughing and such . Alex and I started out on the White River National Forest at about the same time many years ago.  As seasonals we got to know each other and kept in touch over the years, though not so much of late.  It was a lot of fun to bump into him on a fire on the Pike San Isabel a few years ago and catch up, learn of his more recent adventures and remember the past.  He was quite a character and he will be missed.

Alex and I met in high school and I am grateful to have had such a kind, sweet and funny friend for all of these years. I will miss him dearly and cherish the memories I have. Alex was a wonderful human being and I send my condolences to his family and loved ones. 

I am heartbroken to hear of Alex's passing.  He was my high school boyfriend and first love.  Alex is one of the kindest people I have ever known and I was lucky to know him.  My deepest condolences to all his family and loved ones.  The world has lost a bright light. 

Alex was one of my greatest friends.  We go way back to the 80's , just two kids growing up in and  living in New York City.  Al and I used to go camping a lot at Bear Mountain in the Catskills, and usually another one of out friends would join.  
Alex was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off of his back.  He helped me immensely by letting me stay with him when times were hard.  He was like a brother to me.  Journey well my friend.  I love you always.

Alex was such a great person to work with and an overall wonderful human being. I have so many fun memories of our times in the field or just chatting over lunch. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to spend time with him.  There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. 

I am so sorry to hear of Alex’s death. I attended many US Forest Service meetings and training sessions with Alex. He was a kind young man. My sincere condolences to his family. 


I’m saddened to learn of the loss of Alex, a former Forest Service co-worker.  

Please accept my condolences and may  his family and friends know you are surrounded by many who care.
