Alice Josephine (Hamilton) Ray was born on March 23, 1923, one of 12 children born to William and Helen. Alice was formally educated in the West Virginia school system. Alice met and later married Cecil E. Green Sr. in the late 40’s and to this union was born one son Cecil E. Green Jr.
Alice and Cecil moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 and became members under the leadership of Bishop Looper and church family. Later, Alice became a member of The Church of The Living God, under the leadership of the late Bishop Jewel.
Alice worked many years at Kelly’s doughnut shop on Cleveland’s west wide and also worked at Marshall’s drugstore and Gray’s drugstore. Alice continued working faithfully until she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1980 at which time she took employment at the Furr’s cafeteria followed by Hardees’s (where she was known as “The Biscuit Lady”).
Alice spent her last few years under the loving care of the Pikes Peak Care Center and their wonderful staff. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Mary, Mildred and Naomi, four brothers Bud, Calvin, William, and Robert.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one, son Cecil E Green Jr. and wife Catherine, grandson Terrence and wife Pauline, great grandchildren London and Madison, one sister, Shirley A Duren, one brother, John Hamilton and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and loving friends.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 5-7pm. A Service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 1pm with the burial to follow. All will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
