Anthony Lucas Reed, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2026, just two days after his 32nd birthday. Born on April 17, 1994, Anthony was a man of deep faith, tireless work ethic, and an extraordinary heart for all living things.
*A Life of Hard Work and Innovation*
Anthony found purpose in labor. From a young age, he was drawn to landscaping, a passion that allowed him to work with his hands and stay close to the outdoors. Most recently, he served as an electrical apprentice. He was known for volunteering for the most grueling assignments and the most difficult projects, often telling his colleagues that "hard work just made him feel good."
His mechanical mind was evident from childhood—perhaps most famously when he took apart his father’s weed eater to motorize his own bicycle. That curiosity evolved into a lifelong love for anything with wheels; Anthony was rarely without a project, whether it was a bicycle put together from scratch or a motorcycle he had rebuilt.
*Overcoming Through Sheer Will*
Anthony was no stranger to hard work in any form, including the quiet battles he fought within himself. Diagnosed at a young age with a form of dyslexia that made reading and comprehension a significant struggle, he refused to be discouraged. While he appreciated the help of teachers and family, it was in his teenage years that he discovered his own path to mastery.
He developed a unique system of discipline: reading a chapter of the Bible, performing ten pushups to focus his mind, and then deeply reflecting on what he had just read. Through this combination of physical exercise and mental grit, he overcame his learning struggles. This determination became a hallmark of his character.
*A Spirit for the Outdoors*
Anthony’s soul was most at peace in the Colorado wilderness. Having spent his childhood summers camping in the mountains, he carried a lifelong preference for the open air. He often remarked that he would much rather sleep under the stars than be "cooped up" in a house. It was in nature that he felt most connected to the world around him.
*A Legacy of Selfless Love*
Anthony’s presence in a room simply lightened the mood. Playful and charming, he was always ready to join in witty banter or gentle ribbing, and his gift for making people laugh was a constant comfort to those around him. Yet, it was his selfless and forgiving nature that truly defined his heart. He was remarkably quick to forgive and seemed incapable of holding a grudge, preferring instead to live with a spirit of grace and loving kindness.
While his adventurous and sometimes mischievous spirit made him charming, it was Anthony’s profound compassion that defined him. As a boy, he chose to adopt Misty, a Border Collie whose scars told a story of mistreatment. Anthony didn't just see a pet; he saw a soul in need of love. They remained inseparable throughout her life.
This kindness extended to everyone he met. Whether it was nursing an injured bird back to health or quietly handing half of his dinner to a stranger on the street, Anthony lived with a heart wide open. To him, these weren’t extraordinary acts; they were simply the way one was supposed to live.
*A Bold Faith*
Anthony was a faithful Christian who viewed the Bible not just as a book, but as a roadmap. He spoke often of the "Sons of Thunder," James and John, admiring their bold passion for Christ. Anthony lived with that same boldness, never hesitating to share his faith or his relationship with God with those around him.
*Family and Remembrance*
Anthony will be profoundly missed by the many lives he touched with his kindness and his unwavering spirit. He is survived by his father John (Janet) Reed, his mother Constance (Jon) Zimmerman, his sisters Christine Reed and Amanda (Andrew) Jones, his brother Daniel (Macennia) Reed, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved canine companion, Misty.
