Tony was born on August 15, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Antonio and Kunigunde Gonzalez. He later made Colorado Springs his home, where a little country line dancing led him to meet the love of his life, Dorothy. The two were married on August 15, 1998.
Tony worked as a Traffic Engineer for the City of Colorado Springs and retired in 2010 after many years of dedicated service.
In retirement, he fully embraced the things he loved most: brewing his own beer, woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Pheasant hunting with his dogs and buddies was one of his favorite pastimes, and he never missed a chance to ride his motorcycle or settle in to watch the History Channel with his grandchildren. Tony also enjoyed cooking and had a strong loyalty to Ford vehicles—anything else simply didn’t measure up.
Tony was a proud father and stepfather who loved his children deeply. He loved watching them grow into who they are today and was always ready with support, guidance, and encouragement. His love for his family was constant and unwavering.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Gonzalez, and many beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his mother, Kunigunde Gonzalez; his children, Aimee Gonzalez and Keith Gonzalez (Michelle); stepchildren, Andi Wald (Steven) and Michael Kimball (Krista); siblings Mike Gonzalez (Nelly), Xavier Gonzalez (Lois), Dave Gonzalez (Mickey), and Regina Pabalonia (Ray); and his grandchildren, Elysia and Elijah Gonzalez, Nick, Sam, Ben, and Nate Wald, and Kayla and Kayden Kimball. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Tony will remember his sharp wit, strong opinions, and unmistakable personality. He made it very clear that seafood had no place on his plate—and that he had even less patience for liberals—both topics he could debate with enthusiasm.
