Betty passed away quietly at home Christmas Eve with her two daughters and son-in-law present. What an expected outcome from a faith based, phenomenal woman with her sense of humor and orneriness intact, to become Heaven's Newest Angel and meet Jesus at that particular time!
Born Betty Jean Pribble in Pueblo to Doris (Mom) and Lawrence (Greendad) Pribble (both deceased), Betty graduated from Delta High School in 1943. She later married Everett Volgamore (deceased) and became a longtime resident of Grand Junction since the mid-1940's. She became mother to Rita and Keleen "Kelly" Volgamore. Betty re-married in June, 1968, to Curren Talbott (deceased).
Betty worked at the Singer's Sewing, but is especially known for her exceptional skills at Brownson's Men's Store as Boy's Dept. Manager under Ray Watkins. Her next vocation, in 1965, was working with her elder sister, Irma (Crawley) Schenkelberg (deceased), as Office Manager at Arrow Glass. When the shop was sold it was stipulated that she would stay to teach George White the "glass business." Sadly, he passed and the shop became Harding Glass where she stayed as Senior Manager until her retirement in 1992.
She is preceded in death by younger brothers, Melvin, Ray, and Bill Pribble; younger sister, Arlene (Wagner) Denny, and other family and dearly loved friends.
Always helping others, she donated blood for years, was a member of the ELKS, Knife & Fork Club, Sword Club, and a Social Sorority with close friends.
Betty was a loving, devoted wife whose truest joy was being a Mother, Grandma to Craig and Monica Kennedy, Dayne Hutchison and Great-Grandma to Sylis Hutchison. Also surviving are cousins, nieces, nephews; cherished friends, Joanie Hyland, Shirley McCabe, and Verna Melgares, and numerous others. She will be deeply missed.
Betty loved country music, dancing, boating, fishing, sewing, and audio books, but her biggest passion was making exceptional stained glass pieces that are scattered all over Grand Junction, and the world!!
Betty is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Les Kennedy, whom she lived with the last 12 years in Colorado Springs, and her 4-year old Shih Tzu, Evie. She previously lived with younger daughter, Keleen "Kelly" Lambert (Overholt/Hutchison), and son-in-law, Doug Lambert (deceased), from 2005-2008 in Grand Junction.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty's honor to the Colorado Talking Book Library in Denver where she received her audio books after becoming sight diminished with Macular Degeneration.
Graveside services will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery January 13, 2021, 1:30 p.m. Following, a Celebration of her Life at the Merlot Room #1 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 765 Horizon Dr. from 2:30p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
