Betty Joan Williamson was born in Durango, Colorado on June 8, 1936 to Harold and Opal Vandaveer. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bill Williamson, her parents Harold and Opal Vandaveer and her sisters Patricia Feather and Barbara Naumburg. Betty is survived by her brother Glen (Julie) Vandaveer and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1938 they moved to Falfa, Co where her sisters Patricia Feather was born in 1939 and Barbara Naumburg in 1942.. In 1944 they moved to California where her brother Glen was born in 1947.
After the war In 1951 the family moved back to the San Luis Valley and settled in Mosca, Colorado where Betty Graduated from high school in 1955. She had a graduating class of 6. After graduation, they moved to Salida where Betty stayed for the summer before moving to Colorado Springs to attend business college. While attending college Betty worked as a Nanny. Her brother Glen always looked forward to her return visits home because she would bring him special treats and they would play games all weekend. She went on to work at the Antlers hotel where she met her husband Bill Williamson. After working at the Antlers hotel she began working at Penrose hospital. She worked at Penrose hospital for more than 25 years before she retired. After retiring she continued at Penrose as a volunteer until 2020.
Betty enjoyed her travels along the West Coast. She relished in the opportunities of Santa Barbara as well as San Francisco and its crooked Lombard street. Also,the Oregon coast and its glass on Lincoln beach. Then up to Canada where she was blessed and excited by the Canadian Parliament. Along that four week road trip she enjoyed pink cola, known to the rest of us as pina colada.
She loved to fish, and would often go down to the river to fish during family gatherings. She liked to take the bus to cripple creek for her birthday and in the fall so she could see the leaves changing. Betty looked forward to the holidays and enjoyed attending community events. She was a member of Heart of the Springs Church and enjoyed attending Sunday school and church Betty was a friend to many and will be deeply missed.
