Calla Mae Weegar was born in Reading, PA. She met her future husband, Ed Jones, when she was only 16. She approached him and he asked how old she was. Since he was 18 he gave her a nickel, the cost of a phone call, and told her to call him when she turned 18. She kept that nickel and called him on her 18th birthday. They were married not long after that and raised three wonderful sons, Ed, Dean and Mark on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania and then at the motel they purchased in Tupper Lake, New York. They fell in love with skiing and eventually moved to Colorado. Always an athlete, Calla played basketball in high school and was also a bicyclist, archer, tennis player, raced war canoes and skied. After retiring she skied competitively with the Summit County’s Over-the-Hill gang and road in long distance bike rides. She loved her sons and told her nurses being a Mom was the best thing she ever did. Calla also enjoyed taking care of her son's dogs, sharing gum drops with their horses, drinking beer and watching football. Calla is survived by her brother, Franklin Weegar, her sons Ed Jones (Susan Nuvill) and Dean Jones (Tina Jones), and her grandchildren Trent and Kate. She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Jones. Thank you Calla for all the joy you brought to so many. The family thanks Calla's friends and neighbors for the love and joy you brought her. At Calla's request there will be no Memorial.
