With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Caroline E. Jones, who peacefully left us on January 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in 1935 in Seattle, Washington, to Chester and Katherine Hubbard. In 1936, her family moved to Ojai, California, where she would later meet her sweetheart, Richard Jones, at Nordhoff High School. Their connection blossomed, and in 1956, they married and began a life together.
Caroline’s dedication to caring for others was evident early on. After graduating from Knapp College of Nursing in Santa Barbara in 1956, she embarked on a career as a nurse. As a proud and devoted Navy wife for 24 years, Caroline’s life took her to Honolulu, Hawaii twice, San Diego, and eventually back to Ojai in 1973. In 2019, she embraced a new chapter by moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to be near her son Lawrence.
Following her years in nursing, Caroline’s passion for helping others inspired her to return to college. She earned a Master of Science in Education from California Lutheran College and received her teaching credentials, which led her to teach for many years in the Children’s Program at Camarillo State Hospital. Caroline’s greatest gift as a teacher was her ability to see the potential in every child. She created a classroom environment where students felt safe, valued, and inspired to learn. Many of her students faced significant challenges, and Caroline’s unwavering support and encouragement helped them overcome obstacles and believe in themselves.
Beyond her professional life, Caroline was known for her gentle humor and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Family gatherings were her favorite occasions, and she especially cherished taking her family to Disneyland and Disneyworld, creating memories that will last forever.
Caroline was preceded in death by her brother Michael, her parents, and her loving husband Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Hall (Rich); son, Lt. Col. USA (Ret) Lawrence Jones (Heidi); son Richard Jones (Rena); and her loving grandchildren Per, Thomas (Luna), Nichelle, Nicole, Ian, Nathan, and Neil.
An inurnment service will take place at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she will be inurned with her husband Richard.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Briargate and Bloom Hospice for their compassionate care.
