Catherine E Bland

Cathy was born in Spokane, WA to Wyatt and Betty Gray on 27 Dec 1957. Growing up around Spokane, she graduated Ferris HS in 1976. Cathy married William (Bill) Paul Bland on 23 April, 1977. They had two boys, William Wyatt and Eric Martin.

They left WA in 1984 with the military and spent a few years in Germany, then Savannah, GA, then back to Germany, and finally started to set down roots in Colorado Springs, CO in 1996.

Cathy spent most of her time as a caring stay-at-home mom. But she also spent time working in a vet clinic, hotels, and cleaning residential homes. Her hobbies included her cocker spaniel “Savannah”, painting, skiing, crocheting, baking, and of course, horses. Once she was able to own a horse, she spent nearly every waking moment at the stables with it, so much so, the staff got her a job there.

In 2001, Cathy was involved in a horse related accident that left her with a severe TBI, speech and motor function issues. She was mostly wheelchair bound, but that didn’t stop her from attending many of her grandkid’s games. She always had a smile despite her limitations. She divorced from Bill in 2010. Cancer finally caught up with her May 2025.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband.

She is survived by her children, William Wyatt and Eric; her 4 grandchildren, Alex, Toby, William Wayne, and Wyatt; her siblings, Terry and Don; and many friends and caregivers.

Cathy was a bright light lost too soon. She is now riding the range on her horses.
