

Charles (Charlie) W. Trafton Jr., born June 23, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri to Charles W. and Mary Louise (Jarman) Trafton, passed away on August 18, 2011 at the age of 68. Charlie was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his loving wife Helga D. Trafton; mother Mary Louise Trafton; son Charles W. (Teri) Trafton III; daughter Saundra (Erik) Trafton; brother Melvin (Dee) Trafton; sisters Barbara (Art) Clark; and Sharon (Richard) Diamond-Taylor and his grandchildren Spencer Gunn, Shelby Faulkner and Leighton Trafton-Abrams.
Charlie moved to Colorado Springs during his early childhood years. Charlie went to Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer High School) and then entered the United States Army in 1961. While stationed in Germany Charlie met Helga where they began their 48 year marriage. Charlie worked as a truck driver but is best known as the owner operator of Trafton Roofing. After retiring, Charlie and Helga moved to Mesa, Arizona, in 2004 where they spent the last seven years enjoying the sun, the pool and the numerous golf courses.
Charlie will always be remembered for his gregarious personality and wanting to spend time with others, often overindulging his time at various coffee houses around town. Charlie never met a person he didn’t want to befriend.
Charlie will be missed by all, especially his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.. Followed by a military burial service at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, Friday, August 26, 2011 at 3:30 p.m..
