Dale was born February 6, 1940, in Portland Colorado to Maria Rosa and Epimenio Solano. He was the 2nd oldest son with 5 brothers and 1 sister. Dale grew up in Florence and Pueblo Colorado. This is where he met lifelong friends that he was still close to. Friends were known to just walk into each other’s homes to play without knocking. These friends became family to Dale that would last a lifetime.
On July 2, 1960, Dale married the love of his life Margaret Acosta in Pueblo, Colorado. They were high school sweethearts and would remain married for 64 years and were blessed with 8 children, Dal, Robin, Carol, Kristie, Donny, Ruth Anne, Rose Anne and Andrea.
Dale and Margaret moved to Colorado Springs in 1958 where he became a roofer and worked for Prosser Roofing Company. He became a member of Roofers Local #58 on January 9, 1959. He was a roofer by trade for over 47 years. Dale was very involved in the union acting as President and Business agent for Local 58. Dale retired from roofing on August 30, 2005, but remained as active Business agent with Local #58 until February 8, 2018. Dale was a hard-working individual who passed that trait on to all his children. Dale retired from the local office to care for his beautiful bride.
The biggest legacy Dale leaves behind is his love and care for everyone in his life. There are many stories of Dales’ kindness to people he loved and people he didn’t know. He was known to open his home to help brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. He was also known to help strangers get a job and would give them a few dollars for gas to get to work until they received their first paycheck. His home was always open to anyone just stopping by for a quick conversation. In his final days he loved having visitors come by just to talk and reminisce about the old days. His family was always taken care of and loved. Everything he worked for was for his kids and grandkids. He built a playground for his grandchildren, and all kids were welcome to play on it. That is what brought a smile to his face.
Dale is survived by his children Dal (Vickey) Solano, Carol (Jason) Soleau, Kristie Solano, Donny (Gabby) Solano, Ruth Anne Solano, Rose Anne Snow, and Andrea Solano, 16 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Robert) Trujillo, Brothers Jerry Solano, Ronald (Mitty) Solano and George (Donna) Solano and countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Dale is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Solano, Daughter Robin Bloom, Son-in-law Troy Bloom, grandson Dawson Bloom, his parents Epimenio and Rose Solano, Brothers Tom Solano and Epimenio Fred Solano.
