Dana DeJulio Hines of Colorado Springs passed away peaceful at home on June 14, 2015. Dana was born Feb. 16, 1957, in Montrose, CO to Ed and Karen DeJulio. After graduating from Montrose High School, Dana moved to Colorado Springs and attended Blaire Junior College. Soon after moving to Colorado Springs, she met her husband Ken Hines. They were married November 29, 1980 and began to grow their family. Ken & Dana raised three children, Katie, Adam and Jenna.
Dana worked as a mortgage loan office in Colorado Springs, for many years, most recently at People’s Mortgage. Dana’s true passion was quilting; she loved making quilts for her family and friends. Dana also loved to cook and enjoyed preparing large gatherings for her friends and family. She was jokingly referred to as “The Hostess With The Mostest!” Dana was diagnosed July 2014, with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. She underwent a craniotomy, radiation, chemotherapy and avastin treatments. She won her fight against cancer by going home to her Heavenly Father. Dana left her family and friends a legacy full of love, strength and charity.
Dana’s survivors include her devoted husband, Ken Hines, Parents Ed and Karen DeJulio, father-in-law, Wayne Hines, sister Lori Parlet (Craig), brother Ken DeJulio (Michelle), daughter Katie Diaz (Joaquin) and grandchildren Cooper and Layla, son Adam Hines, daughter Jenna Hines and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurse and CNA’s of New Century Hospice, as well as the staff of Freedom Home, for taking such gentle and thorough care of Dana.
Services will be held Saturday, June 27 at 11am at Calvary Worship Center, 501 Castle Rd., Colorado Springs, CO. followed by lunch reception at Gold Hill Mesa Community Center. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Century Hospice of Colorado Springs, 1524 N. Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs, CO. 80903, as well as the National Brain Tumor Society, braintumor.org, in honor of Dana Hines.
