
Donald L. Johnson, 71 of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. He was born February 20, 1939 to John P. and Rose (Resnick) Johnson in Ashland, Wisconsin. Donald married Janice Marlene (Pluto) Johnson on June 20, 1964 in Ironwood, Michigan.
In April 1964, Donald received his B.S. Degree from Michigan State University, Honors College. He received his M.S. Degree in 1994 from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He served 3 years of active duty in the Army, serving 1 year in Korea and another in Colorado Springs.
Donald retired as the Deputy Chief of Detectives at the Ann Arbor, Michigan police department and also retired from the Colorado Springs Police Department. He attended the National FBI Academy. He was a Mason with Golden Rule Lodge #159 of Ann Arbor, a member of GBU 630 of Ann Arbor, Zai Gaz of Ann Arbor, Michigan State Alumni Association, Elks Lodge #309 of Colorado Springs, Association of the U.S. Army, FBI National Academy Associates, IACP, Retired Peace Officers of Colorado, International Police Association and the Magen David Society. He received many awards and achievements in the Police profession. Donald enjoyed reading, traveling, classical music, current events, History and Sports.
Donald is survived by his wife Janice Marlene Johnson of Colorado Springs, Mother-In-Law Lillian Pluto of Ironwood, Michigan; Sister-In-Law and Brother-In-Law Sharon and James Baksic of Bessemer, Michigan; Brother-In-Law Michael Pluto of Hurley, Wisconsin; Niece and Nephew-In-Law Michele and David Kramer of Commerce Township, Michigan; Great Nephew Dylan Kramer of Commerce City, Michigan; Cousins Allen and Linda Saeks of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Adam, Kateri, Nalani and Charles Saeks of Lafayette, Colorado and Betty Gibson of Aurora, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father and Father-In-Law Mike Pluto.
Graveside Services and Interment will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 24, 2010 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Association of Choice or to Temple Shalom, 1523 E Monument Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
