Edward Foss passed away November 28, 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he has resided since 1988, at the age of 96. Edward was born on June 22, 1928 in Coleman, Michigan to the late Pauline and David Foss. Edward joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served as a radioman until November 22, 1947 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV-36) in the south Pacific post war performing security patrols. He received the American Area Victory Medal for World War II. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he began a job as a draftsman at General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan.
He then moved to work with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an office manager in Ironwood Michigan, working in a variety of roles, building his lifelong career, until he was promoted to International Account Manager for AT&T and TRW for SAC (Strategic Air Command) at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. With those two companies he traveled extensively overseeing upgrades to the communication systems at Air Force Bases throughout the world. In 1988, he and his wife Jacklyn moved to Colorado to be near their only grandchildren Lindsay and Jordan who they provided daycare for.
Edward kept busy after his formal retirement, working at various organizations such as Porsche, CASA, Bronco Billy’s, Tare Software (founder), Advantage Cellular, and the US Census Bureau to name just a few. He eventually became a full-time care giver for his beloved wife, Jacky, never regretting a minute of it. After Jacky passed away in March of 2013, he took care of his terminally ill daughter Mary Ann who died from cancer a couple months later. Since then, he has spent his time as an avid reader, with weekly visits to the local library, doing his own yardwork, furniture restoration, and caring for his grand-daughter’s dog and just enjoying life. Edward stayed strong and healthy by walking daily around Quail Lake, until just recently. Edward lived a long life with hardships along the way but kept a positive attitude. He is survived by his son Thomas (Carol), and their two children Lindsay and Jordan (Crystal). Edward was a big part of our lives and participated in many family activities. AND, he had a great smile! We will miss him dearly!! Love you Dad!
