She was born on March 12, 1928, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Arthur Tinsley and Mary Brooks. She had one sibling, Joe. She moved to Louisville, Kentucky and married Phil Messina. Together they had three sons, Phillip, Victor and Anthony. She later settled in Colorado Springs in 1962 and married Adolph Zamarripa.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip and Anthony, and her daughter-in-law, Darlene, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During her early years, she was an adjudicator of Unemployment for the State of Colorado. Later she went on to become a registered nurse and finally a home care provider before retiring.
She was blessed to have a lovely friend, Lajuan Harrison, who helped her with daily activities and was her caregiver in the end.
She was lively and energetic all her life. She was a strong woman. Her beautiful smile and bright eyes lit up the room. She loved the Lord and she loved her family.
A private interment will be held at the Garden of Victory at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
