

Esther Mae Steckman 91 of Colorado Springs went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1932, in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her parents were Earl and Ruth Engle, she had five siblings, George, Earl, Margery, Jesse, and Dwight. She graduated from Blair College and received an associate’s degree. She was married to Neal C Steckman on August 7, 1949, and together they had five children Evelyn, Dan, Randy, Tim and Joy. She had many jobs in her life but the one she loved the most was Sewing from home, she had a passion for playing the Piano and accordion, she loved to crochet, and loved to spend time playing with her great-great grandson Xander.
She is survived by her brother Dwight who lives in Montana, her five children, Evelyn Morrison, Dan, Randy, Tim and Joy Steckman. Her nine grandchildren Debra Moore, Jonathan Morrison, Diana Clark, Taylor and Audrey Steckman, Frank Steckman, Raymond and Brianna Hartke, and Danielle Steckman. Her great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren.
Esther was an avid churchgoer, she loved to play the piano and sing songs with her congregation. She loved her family, and she loved being a grandma, she would sew and crochet, she would teach her children. She loved to go to her day program second home day center, she used to tell everyone that she was going to work, and she would come home with stories from the day.
She was a feisty woman with a heart so full of love she would leave everyone laughing and smiling. She touched many lives in a positive way and will be forever missed. Her funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on June 29, 2024, at 12pm, reception will follow.
