

Georgette was born on January 30, 1949, in Long Island, New York, to Al and Rose Rhodes. She had one brother, Dr. Glen Rhodes.
Growing up near New York City, her family loved to attend Broadway shows and go to the museums. She graduated from the College of Emporia Kansas with a B.A. in English and a M.A. in Teaching.
In 1979, while in the Washington D.C. area Georgette met Thomas Ames at a singles event. They married one year later. Together they had a daughter, Sherri.
Georgette devoted her career of over 30 years to the education of learning-disabled students. Students would regularly come back to visit her and thank her for all she did for them. She often spoke about how proud she was of them and how they had gone on to have successful careers.
Georgette always loved art and history and continued to go to museums throughout her life. She was very social and loved getting together with friends to playing games and go places.
Georgette was always interested in fashion, and she took up knitting so she could knit clothes for her grandchildren when they were babies. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, specifically her three grandchildren, Corey, Rosalie, and Skyler. Georgette would often love to take all of them out to eat at nice restaurants or get desserts.
Georgette is survived by her daughter Sherri, son-in-law Anthony, and grandchildren Corey, Rosalie, and Skyler. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
