Ginna Katharine Preston passed away on February 17, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado where she had just moved to be with her son. Born to Virginia and Walter “Bill” Tindall on December 21, 1944, in Trenton, New Jersey, she was a woman of surprising yet gentle strength.
Ginna grew up in New Jersey with her older brothers Jay (deceased) and Jon where she cultivated the role of the “angel” in the family, though a favorite story of hiding bread crusts in the lips under the dining room table that fell out one day, speaks to a bit of mischief.
Ginna graduated from Pomona College and then attended Stanford University where she earned a Masters in Speech Pathology. She taught special education in Danville, California for a few years before moving to El Toro, California (now Lake Forest).
She had two children, Shane and Shauna, with Fred Preston. She chose to keep the last name of her children.
When times got tough, she sold World Book Encyclopedias door to door, earning multiple sales awards. She then went to work as a loan officer for her brother Jay who owned Genesis Mortgage Corp. After his passing, she opened her own company, Gemini Mortgage Corp. She worked for over 35 years as a loan broker and successful business owner in Southern California.
Ginna became an avid cyclist in her later years, enjoying both mountain and road biking. She often spent summers at Mammoth Mountain and even competed in a 100-mile road race there. For a time, she really enjoyed the Country Western Dance scene in Southern California, collecting her fair share of boots and western wear. She loved unusual nicknacks, and festooned her yard with metal work from local artists.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren Kayleen, Ashley, Dawson, and Bryce. She even moved to Colorado Springs for a few years after Bryce was born.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Ginna K. Preston will be held on April 19 at Memorial Gardens Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM. Ceremony 11:00-12:00. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery 12:30-1:00.
Ginna K. Preston will be greatly missed.
