

Grace L. Taylor began her final journey on April 10, 2012, from the Broadmoor Court in Colorado Springs. She was born December 22, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frieda and Alfred Linkman. Grace married Joe B. Taylor on September 12, 1942 and they chose Colorado Springs in 1946 for their lifelong home. They raised two children, built a successful business and traveled the world together until 1984 when Joe passed away.
Grace grew up in Milwaukee, a 1942 graduate of Milwaukee-Downer College. She was well known in Colorado Springs for her love of travel and enjoyed countless adventures worldwide, visiting over 125 countries. She began serving the traveling public in 1956. With Joe, she founded Taylor Travel in 1969 and remained active until retirement in 1986. She continued traveling internationally well into her 80s.
Grace attended the Protestant Chapel at Peterson Air Force Base with her dear friend, Roe Kincannon, who passed away in 2001. She was a member of Friends of the Pioneers Museum, El Paso County Historical Society, American Association of University Women, Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Women’s Educational Society of Colorado College, and an Auxiliary member of the Retired Officer’s Association.
Grace is survived by her daughter Claudia Taylor, Colorado Springs; son Stephen Taylor & his wife Nancy, Buena Vista; treasured friend Shirley Haskew; sister Lorraine Shaw, West Allis, Wisconsin; loving nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe Taylor and brother, Erwin Linkman.
Funeral arrangements are with Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it was Grace’s wish that contributions be made to Friends of the Pioneers Museum, 215 South Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. The Memorial Celebration of Life is scheduled at Memorial Gardens (Airport & Academy) at 1:00pm Friday, April 20th, 2012.
