Henrietta Skinner Hale

Henrietta Skinner-Hale of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 10, 2011 at Brookdale Place after a short illness. Henrietta was born on April 22, 1917 near Longmont, Colorado to the late John and Henrietta (Eckhart) Lebsack Sr. She graduated from Longmont High School and worked for the Bowman Family in Denver. Henrietta married Richard N. Skinner on January 4, 1942 in El Paso, Texas while he was serving in WWII. They moved to Berthoud, Colorado where they owned and operated a TV and appliance store until 1959 when they moved to LeMars, Iowa. In 1985, they settled in Colorado Springs. Richard passed away in 1985 and Henrietta married Merle Hale in 1990.
Henrietta was a special person whom everyone loved. She was active in church and community events, girl scout and 4-H leader, seamstress and worked in the Burlington munitions plant. She quilted with the First Methodist Church ladies, volunteered at Silver Key, Widowed Persons, AARP and Share Colorado. She was a great mother, friend and neighbor.
Henrietta is survived by two children, JoAnn Skinner Schleis (Ed Schleis) and Richard D. Skinner; grandchildren, Debra Schmitz, Douglas Schleis (Tammy), Lori Rabbitt (Jeff) and David Skinner (Adrienne); nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Henrietta is also survived by stepchildren, Douglas Hale (Ayn), Betty LaVoie (Armand) and Barbara Stephens (Dan); nine step grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren, seven step great great grandchildren; brother in law, John Whitlock and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2011 at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud, Colorado. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
