Born on February 8, 1941, in Albion, Nebraska, to Helen and Norman “Buck” Mullin, he grew up in small-town Nebraska with 11 siblings. He attended Albion High School and loved playing sports and singing in the HS quartet with his friends and dancing at the local fairgrounds.
After college, Hank moved to Schuyler where he met and married the love of his life, Nancy. Together they shared 59 wonderful years filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Nancy fell in love with Hank’s dancing moves and his beautiful tenor voice, which he shared joyfully as a member of the church choir. Their marriage was a lifelong partnership built on faith, devotion, and kindness.
In 1972, they decided to move to colorful Colorado. There they raised 3 children, Paul, Nichole, and Amy. Family meant everything to Hank, and he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved most. Here he also dedicated over 30 years of his professional life as a Radiology and MRI Technologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, where his calm presence, compassion, and skill left a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike. He also proudly served in the United States Army Reserve for over 30 years, reflecting his deep sense of duty and patriotism. A longtime member of the American Legion Post 22, Hank remained committed to supporting and honoring his fellow veterans.
Faith was central to Hank’s life. A devoted Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus, he found joy and community in his church. Outside of work and service, Hank loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, or golfing with family and friends. Hank and Nancy loved to travel. He loved to watch Husker football. He will be remembered for his easy smile, quick wit, and genuine kindness toward everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; children Paul, Nichole (Dana), and Amy (Michael); grandchildren Caitlin (Bay), Sienna, Noah, and Silas; his newest addition, great-granddaughter, Rory; step-grandchildren Neveah, Landon, and Soren; his siblings, Kathryn, Robert, Frances, Dennis (Ruth), Debbie (Mike), Sarah (Kevin), Norma (Butch), and Hilary (Tim); sister-in-law, Joan; brother-in-law, Myrl; along with 21 nephews, 27 nieces, and an abundance of great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Helen; brothers Michael (Kay) and David; sister Marge; sister-in-law Donna; and nephew, Michael.
A Rosary will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on November 17, 2025 at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. A full committal service with military honors will occur at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on November 17, 2025 at 12:00pm.
