

Herman E. Norvel, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on October 13, 2024. A loving man of God who enjoyed reading the bible and sharing the gospel. A traveler who enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, working on cars, and collecting old and unique coins. He was a devoted Denver Broncos fan.
He was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Alvenia Lorenzo Norvel on November 16, 1935. He married Marianne Saenftl on February 21, 1958 in Stuttgart, Germany.
A Veteran of the United States Army, he worked as a Motor Transport Operator for the Army for 20 years and 1 month. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, among other awards. After his retirement, Herman went on to become an Insurance Salesman earning recognition in the Pioneer Mutuals’ Millionaire Club in his first year. He also went on to become a Semi Truck Driver and Instructor Truck Driver.
He graduated from Pikes Peak Community College earning an Associate Degree in Science and Occupational Studies with a major in Business Management. He also earned an Associate Degree in Science Occupational Studies in Marketing and Merchandising. He was later ordained as a minister by the Pentecostal Faith of Jesus Christ. He was fluent in both German and Spanish languages.
Herman is preceded in death by his wife Marianne Norvel, mother Alvenia Norvel, siblings Patricia Polk, Robert R Norvel, daughters Theresa Norvel, Rositha Bolden and great grand daughter A’Raya Zion Smith.
Herman is survived by siblings Loretta Stewart, Paul Norvel (Edna) and Rose Norvel. His loving children Anita Scott (Kermit), Janetta Smith (Donald). Grandchildren Kermit O Scott (Angela), Serena Judkins (Fred), Julian Scott (Victoria), Nicole J Powell (Trey), Shalonda Bolden, Trevor R Smith (Shalonda). Great grandchildren Taylor and Kiersten Scott, Sanaya Jones, Salia and Zayden Judkins, Jayce and Jaylynne Scott, Auburn, Ashton, and Ayvan Blackstock, and Zoe Monroe Powell.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm Monday October 28, 2024 at Memorial Gardens.
Burial will promptly follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
The family of Anita Scott and Janetta Smith wish to extend our sincerest thanks to friends and family, and those involved in the immediate care of Herman Norvel. The loving words of kindness and offers of help did not go unnoticed.
