Howie, as he was known to friends and family, was born on October 10, 1943 in Flushing, New York to Joseph and Francis Feldman. He was the oldest of three brothers (Howard, David, and Robert).
After a magical childhood in Bayside, New York, he attended technical college to master mainframe computers and COBOL programming. He began his working career in the airline industry in upstate New York, before relocating to Kansas City then to Los Angeles. In the late ‘70s, FedEx enticed Howie to bring his family to Colorful Colorado where he spent 35 years with the company. He ended his career as a much-loved manager responsible for Database Management and hosting amazing Christmas parties.
A chance meeting introduced Howie to the love of his life, Elvira (Vera). It only took one official date, on Valentine’s Day, for both to realize they were a complete match. They spent 61 years as constant companions and raised four boys- Joseph, Michael, James, and Adam.
The four boys grew up, as young children do, and each brought home a lovely bride to join the Feldman family- Christy, Beverly, Heidi, and Amy. Dad welcomed each with open arms and treated them as the daughters he never had. As grandchildren were born, Dad became their beloved Papa. There was always a lap to sit on, a generous hug, or partner in crime when Papa was around.
Howie will be remembered for his amazing memory. You could always count on him to recall the details and dates of any life event. He had a love of old movies as well as murder mystery TV shows. He could recite NCIS or Murdoch Mystery episodes from memory! His recliner was his happy place- especially with one of his dogs nearby. Howie had a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh with friends and family.
Howie is survived by: wife Vera, sons Joseph (Christy), Michael (Beverly), James (Heidi), Adam (Amy), grandchildren Hannah (Matt), Jayden, Christopher (Lili), Gage (Olivia), Leah, Alex, Emma, Sarah, and Katie, great grandchildren Isis, Athena, and Mateo, brother Robert (Vicki), many nieces and nephews, and his beloved furry friends, Bear and Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Francis, and brother, David.
