Irene M. Rieden was born, February 2, 1921, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Anna and Henry Frank. She is “Mom” to Anne, Carrie, Marcia (Larry), and Peggy (Art); “Momma” to the grandchildren: Kristin, Brian (Mollie), Dusty (Eric), Misty (Chris), and Shannon (Mark); “Grandmomma” to the great grand kids: Tyler, Madison, Bailey, Jaycie, Rylee, Kellison, Jeffrey and Zach; “Rene” to family and friends. She was 91 years old and it was her time to join our dad Al, and our sister Vicki, in heaven.
Rene moved with her family to Table Rock, Colorado in March 1935 where she graduated from high school with honors in her class of three. She married our Dad on April 28, 1943. Her devotion to her family and friends was unparalleled…an amazing, generous lady who always had time for others.
Mom loved to travel with Dad as they explored many countries and cultures. At the young age of seventy, they took many bicycle trips over mountains and through vineyards across the country.
Rene had a passion for reading and donated time transcribing books to braille for the blind. As her eyesight failed, books on tape ensured this passion continued. The family suggests memorial contributions to The Friends of the Colorado Talking Book Library, 180 Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Colorado 80226.
Our thanks to Memorial Hospital 7th floor staff, The Center at Centennial, and the compassionate caregivers who made it possible for her to return and stay in her home.
A mass celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, July 10th at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsettia Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
