Iris Wright Wisniewski, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on April 21, 2018 in her home in the loving presence of her family. She was born November 9, l937 in Colorado Springs and was the oldest of two daughters of the late Lyman Nichols and Adelia Barbara Wright.
Iris attended South Junior School and graduated from Colorado Springs High School, now Palmer High School in 1955. She attended the University of Colorado and majored in Nursing. She married in August 1957, the late Robert L Morse. They moved to New Jersey where they raised their three children. She later married the late Edward Wisniewski and moved back to Colorado in 1985.
Iris was a caring and generous woman. She was always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. She volunteered in Englewood Hospital in NJ and upon her return to her hometown of Colorado Springs, she volunteered at Penrose St. Francis. She loved traveling, dancing, cooking and hosting lovely dinner parties. She loved to fish whether it was deep-sea fishing in New Jersey or fishing in the lakes of Colorado. She also loved going for drives in the mountains and visiting hot springs or stopping off at Cripple Creek. She especially loved her grandchildren and cherished her time with them.
She is survived by her daughters Deanna King and Donna Neas (Bere) and son Ralph Morse (Debbie); her friend, companion and travel partner James Bliss; her sister Lana Wright; and grandchildren Jordan, Michael, Matthew, Evan and Laina who blessed Iris’s life. Her grandson Austin preceded her in death.
She will be missed by nieces Kimm Wilcoxson and Rayne Christen and Rayne’s daughters Aspen and Aimee as well as many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28th at 9:30am at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
