1/15/1923 – 7/30/2012
Jim was born in Bloom, Kansas to Ralph W. and Mary Lydia Warren on January 15, 1923 and peacefully left this earth to be with those who preceded him on July 30, 2012.
As a young man Jim was a master craftsman as a finish carpenter. Some of the notable Colorado Springs structures he worked on were the Broadmore Hotel, reassembling the bar in the Golden Bee Pub, and Corpus Christie Catholic church’s sanctuary. As he matured in his profession he became a construction foreman and finally a General Superintendent before retiring. At the time of his retirement he was the General Superintendent for Keller Homes and took great pride in the superior quality of a Keller home.
Jim was a very talented man and musically inclined. He had no formal musical training and could not read music, however he expertly played piano, guitar, mandolin and accordion by ear. His love of antiques influenced him to restore a Model T Ford and one of his hobbies was the restoration of antique clocks.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte and is survived by his son James Jr, his daughter Claudia Smith, five grandchildren, Harlan (Yazmine), Rusty, Darin (Tatjana), James III (Lori) and Scott, and five great-grandchildren Samuel, Joah, Kaira, Tobiah and Stacia. Out of 12 brothers and sisters only one sister and one brother, Dove Johnson and Hal Warren, survive Jim. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on August 8, 2012 at 11:00 at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
