James G. Park, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 11, 2024, at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Park, his devoted son Scott Johnson and daughter-in-law Irene Johnson, his cherished daughter Laurel Sherman and son-in-law Kevin Sherman, and his adored grandchildren Ryan Sherman, Zachary Sherman, and Ava Johnson. Jim also leaves behind his faithful companion, his dog Mac.
Born in Needles, California, Jim spent his early years amidst the desert landscape where his father dedicated his days to the operations of the Santa Fe Railroad. At the age of 9, his family relocated to Corona, California, where he spent his formative years, graduating from Corona High School in 1963.
In 1966, Jim answered the call to serve his country, joining the military. Ultimately attaining the esteemed position of an Army Ranger. His six years of service were marked by dedication, courage, and a commitment to protecting the freedoms he held dear. After his honorable discharge, Jim transitioned to civilian life, bringing with him the invaluable lessons learned during his time in the military.
Jim embarked on a remarkable career at General Dynamics, where his exceptional leadership and unwavering work ethic propelled him through the ranks. By the age of 40, he had achieved the position of Vice President, a testament to his tenacity and visionary leadership. Jim remained committed to his education, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Claremont in Claremont, California.
In 1993, Jim married his beloved soulmate, Linda, in a beautiful ceremony in La Jolla, California. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, adventure, and exploration. They lived abroad in Italy and Spain, enjoying themselves in the rich cultures and experiences each country had to offer, from the Island of Capri to the shores of Barcelona.
Upon their return to the United States, Jim and Linda settled in Prescott, Arizona. His retirement at the age of 59 allowed him to fully embrace the joys of family and leisure, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. In 2010, seeking a change of pace, they discovered the serene charm of Monument, Colorado. There, amidst the quiet beauty of the tall pines, they encountered the most amazing neighbors and forged lifelong friendships beyond their wildest dreams.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love knew no bounds, and his legacy of kindness, compassion, and integrity will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Ascent Church in Monument, CO on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, in honor of Jim’s memory. T2T.org
